As the registry business becomes more complicated and more is expected of each registry and its staff, the Association of Registry Agents (AARA) recognizes the need to provide support to ensure the level of service and accountability remains high.
In the past, much of the support required was provided by Service Alberta (SA) but with pressures on budget constraints and declining staff, SA seems to be moving toward a performance monitoring role and away from its traditional support role.
We expect this will leave a void that will affect small offices in particular.
The AARA Board directed that a system be established to support our membership and provide a "real person" who can help clerks when they have problems with a service. Our goal is to mobilize the expertise that exists in our network to work with registry clerks at the transaction level, and to work with the Association as subject matter experts to review and update our online education modules.
